Oregon High School Earth Club Network
OECN, a project of NWEI, includes 65 schools throughout the state in which students participate in extracurricular activities to help the earth. An annual conference, resource manual for Earth Clubs, and leadership training for youth are some of the resources provided by NWEI.
Home Eco-Parties
An enjoyable way to examine household practices and consider alternatives that reduce impact on the earth.
A host invites about 10 friends to her or his home. Before arriving, each guest fills out a checklist outlining practices in his or her own home related to energy, water, solid waste, and household chemicals. A trained volunteer facilitates an interactive, two-hour discussion on opportunities to make homes more earth-friendly based on the checklist.
Trained volunteers are available to assist in the Portland metro area, Olympia, Boise, Corvallis, and several other communities. To host your own Eco Party, download the Home Eco-Party Manual.
Eco Tips for Sustainable Living
One part of accepting responsibility for our planet is actively reducing your personal impact. To provide ideas on steps that can be taken, NWEI has prepared a series of eco-tip fact sheets.
