Brown Bag Lunch Series

brown bag lunch, workplace, workplace programs, corporate programs

Northwest Earth Institute programs have been offered as part of informal educational lunch-time programming in workplaces, as well as part of Brown Bag Lunch series.  As one of the goals of these workplace programs is to offer opportunities for personal development for employees, NWEI discussion courses fulfill this requirement and also provide an effective venue for employees to get to know one another while in dialog about critical issues.  According to research, voluntary participation in personal development programs increases motivation and team rapport.

“The Choices for Sustainable Living and Voluntary Simplicity courses inspired me to condense my thoughts into personal action.   I am more aware and finding opportunities everywhere!!   Rather than being overwhelmed, I feel empowered to do what I can now.”

-Bala Cadambi,Director, I/O Technologies & Standards, DEG Architecture and Planning

"The courses offer us an opportunity to create rich dialog among staff members on topics that are vital and pertinent to our mission as well as to our personal lifestyles.  The discussions help us build community and promote understanding of the interconnections between environmental quality, public health, and our daily practices as businesses and individuals.   Reading what today's leading thinkers have written about these connections is inspiring.  Every business should consider organizing a discussion course and allowing their staff the time to participate."

“The NWEI discussion groups have opened my eyes to numerous environmental and social issues and have also given me tools for being a part of the solution. The discussions are the highlight of my week! I look forward to them as I read through the session material, and I always come out of them feeling energized.  The people that participate in the courses are passionate, intelligent, articulate, and very concerned about the future of the world. It’s been wonderful to find there are so many people like that, and it’s been a privilege to be able to connect with them over lunchtime each week."
