  • 8 learning units within the Health, Safety & Welfare category
  • A clearer understanding of how design can influence personal behavior
  • The role various building systems play in creating a more sustainable built environment
  • An understanding of the strong connection between the built and natural environment and how that connection affects design decisions

"As an architect I am always looking for both inspiration and new information to help inform and guide my design work, and so was very happy to discover the Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI).  Two years ago I joined a small group of local architects and planners who met weekly to discuss readings from NWEI's Choices for Sustainable Living discussion course.  Although it was not written specifically for architects the material was great and the discussions it inspired were even better.  Since then the group has done several other courses and most recently completed Global Warming; Changing CO2urse.  I strongly recommend NWEI to my fellow architects."

-Dave Guadagni, American Institute of Architecture

"NWEI's Choices for Sustainable Living discussion course offers Design & Construction Industry Professionals the opportunity to realize their unique role in the future growth of a healthy planet. In the United States we spend as much as 90 percent of our time indoors. The increasing demand for energy and materials make buildings a key source of by-product greenhouse gases. D&C professionals must awaken to their individual interior journey towards sustainability in order to design and construct the global physical reality in which we work, live, play, and pray. I recommend this course as core curriculum for continued learning throughout the enterprise."
