Everyone is welcome – NWEI’s first open to the public online discussion course will take place beginning June 3rd! –

The NW Earth Institute is offering a three-session online discussion course, drawing from our Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice and Sustainability coursebook. The online Seeing Systems course will be facilitated by the NW Earth Institute and offered as part of The Shift Network’s  “Spring of Sustainability” programming.

We will connect the dots between three of society’s most pressing challenges – peace, justice and sustainability – and we’ll consider pathways for powerful change in our everyday lives. Each week participants will consider a different dimension of peace, justice and sustainability. You’ll learn about what it means to co-create peace and sustainability in the midst of conflict, as well as how to apply systems thinking skills in order to take action.

To register, please click on the link below. *Please note, we will draw from three of the six sessions in the Seeing Systems course book. Further details on readings will follow upon registration. Click here to see a sample of the discussion course book that will be used for our first open online course.

WHEN: Starting Wednesday, June 3rd. Participants will meet weekly at 12pm PST / 3pm EST for three, interactive hour-long course sessions using the NW Earth Institute’s online meeting service. Course dates are Wednesday, June 3rd, Wednesday, June 10th and Wednesday, June 17th. Participants will need to be online on a computer for the course meetings, where you will view slides accompanying our discussion.

COST: $35, which includes your required course book and a one-year membership to the NW Earth Institute.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Participants will:

  • Be introduced to values, visions, and practical actions they can take toward a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
  • Become aware of entrenched values and assumptions that reinforce destructive practices and unhealthy systems.
  • Develop systems thinking skills, which allow them to see the connections between and promote peace, justice and sustainability.
