The time has come to gather together again…

NWEI’s 2009 North American Gathering will center on the theme of “We’re All In”.  We are currently faced with both the biggest challenge and opportunity of our lifetime.  This year’s gathering will focus on how every segment of society—citizens, business, government, higher education institutions and faith communities—is working together to engage and respond to the call for a shift in consciousness.  The Gathering will be June 19-22nd, at Menucha Conference and Retreat Center in Corbett, Oregon, overlooking the Columbia River Gorge.  For day rates, call NWEI at 503-227-2807.

 Highlights of the gathering will include a panel workshop with Portland-based leaders including representatives from the faith community, Portland regional government,  local universities, and business leaders in the sustainability movement.  Workshops will focus on NWEI’s newest area of focus, the higher education community, offering tools and tips for your own community outreach efforts.  There will also be workshops on grant writing to support your organizational needs, as well as presentations from local sustainability coordinators in the business community discussing implementation strategies of NWEI programs in the workplace.

 Our time together will also offer space for returning to our roots, celebrating connection to the natural world and honoring the changing of the seasons as we return to the location of NWEI’s first volunteer retreat some 15 years ago.  We will have time for walking the retreat center’s labyrinth and exploring the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.  Menucha is about 30 minutes from Portland, and if you do not choose to carpool or rent a car, we will have airport shuttles available.

 All are welcome! Please join us for an inspiring, instructive and rejuvenating gathering with fellow members of the NWEI  community.  As we usher in the Summer Solstice together, we will deepen our skills in creating the changes we wish to effect and together expand the work of Inspiring people to take responsibility for Earth.
